NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (AP) — A South Texas man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of his 17-year-old stepson after the teen used a stun gun on his own mother.

Guadalupe County jail records show 46-year-old George Coryell of New Braunfels (BRAHN'-felz) was being held Tuesday on a murder charge. Jail records didn't list an attorney to speak for Coryell, whose bond was $250,000.

New Braunfels police say 17-year-old Felix Antonio Nieves died Sunday after being shot twice with a shotgun at the family's home.

Police say Nieves and his 43-year-old mother were arguing and she tried to use a stun gun on him. Police say Nieves disarmed his mother and used the device to stun her several times.

Police say Coryell opened fire when Nieves was no longer armed or assaulting the woman.
