Lonestar Family Searching For Missing Dog In Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A Texas family is looking for its dog that went missing in the Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park after a bison knocked the dog and his owner into a canal.

Cindy and Doug Ashby issued a plea last week on the Gainesville Pet Finder Facebook page.

Doug Ashby took Bear on a walk along the La Chua Trail while visiting Gainesville Feb. 3 He says a bison came onto the trail and knocked him and the dog into a canal. Ashby says he let the leash go and Bear ran away.

The Ashbys told The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1FtkJQg) that Bear is a 30-pound rescue dog that looks like a rat terrier.

Park manager David Jowers says the dog was spotted on Monday in Boulware Springs Park.
