LEAGUE CITY, Texas (AP) — Houston-area police have arrested a homeless man who they say tried to steal a 32-foot yacht but gave up after crashing into other boats.

The Galveston County Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1vE1iU6 ) 47-year-old Matthew Kinkeade is charged with third-degree felony theft. Kinkeade was being held at the League City jail Monday on $20,000 bond.

League City police were called out to the South Shore Harbour Marina over the weekend after a witness reported a man trying to drive away with the yacht.

Police say the man didn't realize how many ties and anchors the boat had. They say the yacht crashed against the dock and other boats when he tried to drive.

Officers arrested Kinkeade after they say he gave up and left.

Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
