SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Bexar County authorities say a police chase where speeds topped 100 mph has resulted in the arrest of a known gang member and recovery of some marijuana and a pistol.

Sheriff's spokesman James Keith says the chase began early Friday when a deputy clocked the speeding car on San Antonio's Loop 410. It ended with the driver, 23-year-old Hermelindo Zepeda, running into a dead end street.

Keith says Zepeda fell out of the car while trying to flee and was arrested.

Besides the gun and marijuana, authorities found several small bags of a white powdery substance under the car's front seat.

Zepeda told officers he ran because he knew there were warrants out for him and he was trying to get the car back to his girlfriend's house.
