COPPELL, Texas (AP) — Retail gasoline prices across Texas dropped 4 cents this week to settle at $1.94 per gallon.

Unleaded prices earlier this month fell below $2 per gallon in Texas for the first time since 2009.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported that the national average stands at $2.19.

Of the metro areas in the state, drivers in Texarkana are paying the least at $1.87 per gallon and motorists in Austin the most at $1.98.

AAA says falling crude oil prices coupled with a rise in domestic inventory are resulting in the lower gas prices over the last several weeks.

The ample domestic supply is expected to help keep prices steady through the rest of the year.
