Family Searches For Missing Pet

HOUSTON, Texas (AP) — A northwest Houston family is looking for its missing 80-pound tortoise.

KHOU-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1KZ9G1y ) that the family's pet, Carol the turtle, normally stays in its owners' backyard. But the tortoise has dug a hole through the fence and escaped.

Owner Rose Marie Valdez said she and her husband panicked and began running up and down the street looking for their pet when they realized it was missing.

Neighbors caught video of the large reptile walking down the street. They didn't realize she belonged to the Valdezes.

Now, the Valdez family is busy posting flyers so that people in the community know where to bring Carol home.
