BROWNWOOD, Texas (AP) — A former West Texas jailer is behind bars after authorities say he set up a fake Facebook account to defame a sheriff's deputy.

Thirty-seven-year-old Eric Tipton is being held on $300,000 bond at the Brown County Jail on charges of online impersonation, stalking and retaliation. Texas Rangers arrested the Bangs man on Monday.

Tipton worked at the jail from August 2011 to May 2013.

Sheriff Bobby Grubbs says Tipton used the account to post unspecified allegations about the deputy, his family and the sheriff's office. He called it an "unprovoked attack."

Grubbs didn't identify the victim. He didn't release any details about the Facebook account or its contents.

Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney for Tipton.
