Current projections of blood usage and need show a big shortfall throughout the rest of this summer. UBS is currently meeting patient needs, but there is a real possibility that patient care could by compromised in the immediate future.

Typically, our blood center counts on other blood centers to assist in times of shortage, but the shortage is now occurring throughout the country. Patients who need blood soon are counting on blood donors to donate now to make sure that blood is available for both critical and ongoing needs and situations.

Reserves of blood are depleted to less than 1 day's supply on the shelves. Since it takes 24-36 hours to test and process blood before it can be released for a patient, blood is being transfused as quickly as possible. Donors of all types of blood are needed now!

You can donate at Family Powersports on Saturday, July 9th, from 10-3 with the Bloodmobile. There will be a blood drive in Ballinger at St Mary's from 2:45 until 5:30 Saturday, and the UBS Center at 2020 W. Beauregard is open Saturday from 9-1:30.

The Center will also be open next week with these hours:
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from Noon-6pm, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30-1:00 pm.

Help others with your generous donation of the "Gift of Life" now! More info by calling 223-7500 or go to unitedbloodservices.org to make your appointment.
