HOUSTON (AP) — A deputy constable in Harris County was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while writing a traffic ticket for another driver.

Sgt. Jeremy Talbert was taken to a local hospital after the crash Sunday night. Constable Mark Herman tells Houston television station KTRK (http://abc13.co/1MOyLTm ) that Talbert had a gash on the back of his head. Herman said Talbert was "going to be OK."

Before hitting Talbert, the driver hit the back of his patrol car. The impact knocked the deputy into oncoming traffic.
