Free agent wide receiver Danny Amendola is switching teams in the AFC East.

When the 2018 free agency period officially opens on Wednesday, Amendola will sign a two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins, according to NFL.com.

Amendola has played the last five years with the New England Patriots, and before that, four years with the St. Louis (now L.A.) Rams. He won Super Bowl titles with the Patriots in 2014 and 2016.

Amendola just completed a two-year contract with the Patriots that paid out $7.35 million. His new contract with the Dolphins is expected to be for $12 million, with just over $8 million in guaranteed money.

Amendola followed in the footsteps of former Texas Tech wide receiver Wes Welker as slot receiver who found success in the NFL.

In nine NFL seasons, Amendola has career statistics of 426 receptions for 4,109 yards and 19 touchdowns.
