The People/Plant Connection is offering a weekend full of gardening information and holiday treats. Here in West Texas you can garden year-round even in Winter!  Allison Watkins, AgriLife Extension Horticulturist, will be talking about what you can do to winterize your landscape. Learn about cool season annuals, vegetables and find out how to protect your yard from cold weather. The class is this Friday from noon to 1 p.m. Bring your questions about your landscape challenges, too. The class will be held in the Commissioners’ Court on the second floor of the Ed B. Keys building, 113 W. Beauregard. Cost is only $5 per class. Bring your lunch.

This Saturday there will be a tour of the Concho Christmas Tree Farm at Chirstoval. Everyone will  meet at the Water Education Center, 417 S. Oakes, at 9 a.m. and you’ll leave at 9:15 to caravan to the farm. Shawn Uptergrove will give a talk about growing pine trees in West Texas. You’ll take a hayride-type of the farm ending with hot chocolate and smores by the campfire.  The cost is $15 and you must preregister to assure space on the wagon and refreshments.
