AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Unsatisfied with the options for Texas governor last month, one voter opted to write in a candidate he or she thought was better suited for the state's top job — Optimus Prime.

The Texas Secretary of State's Office on Monday affirmed Republican Greg Abbott as the winner with more than 59 percent of the votes.

The only write-in votes counted were those for Sarah Pavitt of Austin. The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/1CBpl9i ) reports that she was the only authorized write-in candidate.

But that didn't matter to more than 1,000 Texas residents who still jotted down a mix of former politicians, celebrities, cartoons and historical figures for Texas governor. Among those written down were Chuck Norris, Jesus Christ, Pope Francis, Stephen Colbert, Harry Potter and Homer Simpson.
