CASTLE HILLS, Texas (AP) — More than a dozen people are hospitalized following a fire that killed five residents at a senior-living facility near San Antonio.

Castle Hills City Manager Diane Pfeil (file) said Monday that officials haven't accounted for about 80 residents of the Wedgwood Apartments, though firefighters went through the 11-story complex and didn't find other victims.

She says officials believe those residents found refuge with family or had left for the holiday before the Sunday morning fire. Authorities are calling emergency contacts for those residents to confirm their whereabouts.

Pfeil says 17 residents remain hospitalized. About 350 seniors live at Wedgwood Apartments.

Bexar (bayr) County Fire Marshal spokeswoman Laura Jesse said Sunday that the cause of the fire is under investigation, though it appears to have originated on the third floor.
