HOUSTON (AP) — Three Houston officers have been hurt after a suspected drunken driver hit a police SUV stopped near the site of a deadly rollover accident.

Investigators say the driver of the car that smashed into the police vehicle before dawn Thursday was detained on a DWI charge.

Police responded to a vehicle rollover wreck near Highway 288. One person in the vehicle died, while another was injured and transported to a hospital.

A car going the wrong way then plowed into a patrol SUV blocking the earlier accident scene — injuring two officers standing outside the police vehicle and one inside.

All three officers were transported to a hospital. Details on their conditions weren't immediately released.

Houston police didn't immediately release the name of the person killed in the original wreck.
