GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — A suspected cartel courier found in Mississippi with more than $1.07 million hidden in a towed vehicle has entered a guilty plea in federal court.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1wTe6qQ ) 29-year-old Luis Miguel Aguilar Gutierrez, of Brownsville, Texas, will be sentenced May 6 for misprision of felony, a charge that involves knowing a crime was being committed but failing to report it.

Prosecutors say the FBI had identified him as a courier for a Mexican drug cartel after his arrest Sept. 3 in a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near Moss Point.

A Jackson County sheriff's deputy pulled Gutierrez him over while towing a Ford Expedition.

When deputies searched the vehicle, Prosecutors says they found plastic-wrapped bundles of cash in its oil pan and engine compartment.
