LUFKIN, Texas (AP) — Police are investigating the death of an emaciated eight-week-old East Texas baby and have arrested the child's parents.
The Lufkin Daily News reports Friday (http://bit.ly/16ku7TN ) that a worker with Child Protective Services visited the baby in a Lufkin home on Oct. 2, nine days before the parents, 18-year-old Dequisha Jackson and 19-year-old Isaiah Tolliver, called 911 to report the child was unresponsive.

A Lufkin police report says the baby, Imauri, had sunken eyes and appeared gaunt. Imauri was pronounced dead Oct. 11 at Memorial Medical Center-Lufkin. Autopsy results are pending. Jackson and Tolliver have been arrested on charges of child endangerment.

Jackson's aunt Linda Bankhead says the child was fed and it is unclear to her why he died.
