Authorities Investigate Two Weekend Homicides

AMARILLO, Texas (AP) — Amarillo police are investigating unrelated homicides after two men were found slain over the weekend. 

Nineteen-year-old Eric Smith was found shot in the head Sunday in the parking lot of the Paradise Club. He was taken to an area hospital where he died.

Officers found 23-year-old Sal Ramirez stabbed in the head at a house on Sunday night. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Autopsies have been ordered in both cases. No arrests have been reported.

Police say there is an average of about 10 homicides a year in Amarillo.
