Angelo State University’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 will host its Spring Commissioning Ceremony for eight graduating cadets on Friday, May 15, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center and is free and open to the public.

ASU cadets to be commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Air Force are: Ethan M. Anderson of Blackwell, Ray T. Chhith of Fort Worth, Alex Covey of San Angelo, Robert G. Crumley of Brownsville, Joshua R. Draper of San Angelo, Dylan J. Meador of Wall, Corrie J. Shafer of Denton and Joshua B. Ury of Abilene.

The guest speaker will be U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Thomas F. Good of the 17th Training Wing of Goodfellow Air Force Base. Good leads the wing’s enlisted force and is the personal adviser to the wing commander on all issues concerning training, readiness, effective utilization and career progression of airmen. He also maintains liaison with and provides recommendations to the wing’s group and squadron commanders, joint service commanders, key staff members and senior enlisted in leading more than 1,400 assigned personnel and more than 14,400 students annually – including 6,000 joint service personnel – at bases across Arizona, California and Florida.

Good entered the Air Force in March of 1990. His background includes various duties in the intelligence career field, as well as special duty assignments as a military training instructor and deputy inspector general. He has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and has been stationed at locations in Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Maryland, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea and Africa. He has served at the squadron, group, wing and combatant command levels.
