The Angelo State University Concert Chorale and ASU Community Chorale will present a public concert titled “An American Portrait” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in the Cactus Hotel, 36 E. Twohig Ave.

The free concert will feature pieces by significant American composers, including Colonial singing-school master William Billings, Romantic-era songwriter Stephen Foster, “Americana” icon Aaron Copland and charismatic genius Leonard Bernstein. Additional selections by Pulitzer Prize winner Norman Dello Joio, National Medal of Arts recipient Morten Lauridsen and Harvard University’s Randall Thompson will complete the program.

Soloists will include ASU voice professor Dr. Scott Raines, ASU alumna and retired choral educator Patti Wetzel and ASU vocal student Luke Perkins. The concert will be directed by Dr. Pamela Lee, ASU director of choral activities since 1994.
