4 Hurting After Chemical Plant Explosion

PASADENA, Texas (AP) — Police say four workers have been hurt in an explosion at a chemical plant along the Houston Ship Channel.

Pasadena police say the accident happened Friday morning at the Albemarle (AL'-buhl-marl) plant.

Authorities say the workers have been transported to hospitals. Their names and further details on their conditions weren't immediately available.

Pasadena police spokesman Vance Mitchell says there's no threat to the community from the accident.

Smoke could be seen coming from one area of the plant.

A message left with Albemarle wasn't immediately returned Friday.
