STOCKDALE, Texas (AP) — Investigators say three people have been killed and two hurt in a South Texas traffic accident involving three pickup trucks.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the wreck happened Sunday morning near Stockdale, about 35 miles southeast of San Antonio.

DPS says a vehicle going south on Texas 123 went out of control and into the northbound lane, striking another truck. A third pickup smashed into the accident scene.

Two people in the first vehicle and one person in the second truck died at the scene. Two survivors were transported to a San Antonio hospital.
